Monthly Film Series: Called and Chosen – The Story of Fr. Vincent R. Capodanno
May 26, 2018 @ 6:45 pm - 9:30 pm
Called and Chosen is an EWTN original docudrama that premiered in 2017, coincident with the 50th anniversary of Father Capodanno’s heroic sacrifice while serving his Marines during Operation Swift Sword in Vietnam’s Que Son valley on September 4, 1967.
A fitting way to remember the service of all our military chaplains during Memorial Day weekend, this film illuminates the heroic life of Servant of God Fr. Vincent R. Capodanno, with a particular focus on his brave ministry as a US Navy Chaplain during the Vietnam War. Born on Staten Island, New York to a large family of Italian immigrants, he would serve as a Maryknoll Missionary in Taiwan and Hong Kong before going on to attend to the spiritual needs of American Marines on the battlefield. Discover a heart “Called and Chosen” to be a priest, missionary, chaplain, and martyr — discover the mission of Father Vincent Capodanno!
MOG Community members Ray and Dawn Glennon are the hosts for this movie night. A member of the Father Capodanno Guild* Speakers’ Bureau, Ray will provide a brief introduction to the important role of chaplains in our military, give a short presentation complementing the movie, and lead an open discussion.
